Are you looking to balance transfer £8000 from your existing credit card, or cards? Does a £8000 credit card limit allow this size of transfer? How hard is it to get a credit card with a 8000 limit in the UK?
We see many UK credit card customers looking for help on finding the right 0% balance transfer credit cards, to use to make large balance transfers.

Before the banking crisis, back in 2008, it was quite common for UK credit card customers to be routinely offered much larger credit card limits. These larger limits would often allow a customer to balance transfer £8000, or more.
Over recent years however, the UK credit card companies have tended to offer lower initial credit card limits. These limits apply when a customer is first accepted for a new credit card.
Many more UK customers will now get a £4000 credit card limit, than a £6000 credit card limit, for example.
Your initial credit card limit can often be increased at a later date. This is usually after a period of time, when you have shown that you can use the card responsibly. You can do this, by staying within your given credit limit, and by making all of the required monthly payments on time.
However, this rise in your credit card limit can often be after your card’s 0% introductory balance transfer offer period has expired.
£8000 Credit Card Limit
It is still possible that some credit card customers will be allocated a credit card limit big enough to allow them to balance transfer £8000, in one transaction. However, a credit card limit of £8000, or more, is a much less frequent occurrence now.
If you are looking to balance transfer £8000 or more, then it is now more likely that you will need to apply for more than one new credit card. Getting two new 0% balance transfer cards maybe the only way, to allow you to make this larger size of balance transfer.
You may need to get two 0% transfer cards, that combined, have a greater than £8000 credit card limit. This can then allow you to transfer the full amount, as two separate transfers.
All of the following featured UK cards do tend to be more generous with their initial credit limits. As a result, they are more likely to be suitable if you are hoping for a 8000 credit card limit.

Credit Card £8000 Limit
Are you a customer looking to balance transfer £8000 or more in one go? Then you will actually need to be given a larger credit limit. A £8000 credit card limit is not large enough to make a £8000 balance transfer.
The reason for this that all of the credit card companies allow a maximum balance transfer amount. This amount is set as either 90%, 93%, or more often 95% of your overall credit limit. Setting a maximum balance limit allows customers to make a balance transfer, and pay their balance transfer fee, without exceeding their overall limit.
This means that to balance transfer £8000 in one transfer, you will need:-
- A credit limit of £8890 or more for those cards with a 90% balance transfer limit
- or £8422 or more for those cards with the more common 95% balance transfer limit
A £8000 credit card limit will only allow a transfer of at most £7600. This is based on the assumption that the card does have the more common 95% transfer limit.
