We have over recent months, seen an increase in the number of people looking for answers, on the topic of can you transfer a store card balance to a credit card?

Can You Balance Transfer Store Cards?

So can you balance transfer a store card? And if so, how do you transfer a store card balance to a credit card?

The answer is yes, you can balance transfer store cards. This applies to store cards from almost all of the main UK high street retailers, including Argos and other stores.

Store cards very often charge more than 29.9% APR interest on any outstanding purchases. Some of the most popular UK credit cards offer 0% interest on balance transfers, for an introductory period of time.

As a result, a balance transfer from a store card to a credit card which offers 0% on balance transfers for an introductory period, can offer store card customers large savings on interest payments.

Argos Card Balance Transfer

Can you balance transfer an Argos card? Can I transfer my Argos card balance to a credit card? An Argos to Barclays balance transfer, for example?

The Argos card is one of the most popular store cards. Many customers will be able to make a balance transfer from an Argos card to a new UK credit card. This can save the customer from paying any interest, if they transfer to a credit card with a 0% offer on balance transfers.

How do you balance transfer an Argos card? You will need to provide the 16 digit card number of the Argos card you are transferring the balance from. This 16 digit card number is the long number on the front of the Argos store card. Older Argos store cards have a 19 digit card number and as a result, these cards cannot make a balance transfer online.

To balance transfer an Argos card, you will also need to provide the name of the card e.g. Argos, and the amount of the balance that you want to transfer.

The popular 0% transfer cards listed below will all accept an Argos card balance transfer. These 0% credit cards will also allow other store card balance transfers from the likes of Debenhams, for example.

Balance Transfer Next Store Card

Can I transfer my next account balance to a credit card? Many customers would like to make a Next store card balance transfer request, to save money by paying less in interest.

Unlike the Argos store card above, you can not make a Next store card balance transfer. This is because although you may have a Next store card, this is actually a credit account, not a card.

You can however clear your Next store card balance, by making a payment using a credit card. If you have a credit card with a 0% offer on purchases, like the cards above, you can use this card to make the payment. You can then pay off the credit card during the interest free period on purchases.

The popular 0% cards shown above will allow a Next store card payment.

Store Card Balance Transfer

To transfer a store card balance to a credit card, you need to have a credit card with a balance transfer offer. Many UK balance transfer requests are made during the application process for a new credit card

A balance transfer fee will be payable in most cases when you balance transfer store cards. This fee is paid to the card company that you transfer the store card balance to. There is no fee charged by the store card, when a customer makes a balance transfer to a credit card.

What Is A Store Card

Store cards, differ from credit cards like the Post Office balance transfer credit card, for example.

Customers can use store cards to make a purchase in a specific store, and then pay later. However store cards very often charge high rates of interest and can only be used to make purchases within that specific store.

Credit cards also allow customers to make a purchase and pay later. With a credit card , a customer can make a purchase in any retailer, restaurant, hotel etc, using their card, and then pay later. In addition, most credit card have lower interest rates than most store cards.

With many store cards charging around 29.9% APR interest on any outstanding purchases, it is not surprising that many customers are looking to make a store card balance transfer.

A store card balance transfer from a high interest rate store card to a credit card offering 0% on balance transfers, for an introductory period, can offer the customer a way to make large savings.

0% balance transfer cards will not charge interest on the balance for the duration of the balance transfer offer. Most cards will have a balance transfer fee which is a percentage of the amount charged. There are a very small number of no fee balance transfer credit cards available in the UK.

It makes no difference whether you make store card balance transfer to a Visa or MasterCard credit card. Both of these payment networks, and their issued credit cards are accepted in millions of locations around the world.

So in summary, as explained above, yes you can balance transfer a store card in the UK.
