High Credit Limit Balance Transfer

What are the 0% balance transfer credit cards that will allow a high credit limit balance transfer?

High Credit Limit Balance Transfer

A high credit limit balance transfer occurs when a customer is looking to make a large balance transfer from one credit card to another.

Balance transfers of larger amounts require that the customer is approved for a new credit card with a high credit limit. This higher credit limit is required to allow the balance transfer to complete successfully.

Before the banking crisis started, it was common for the credit card companies in the UK to be quite generous with their credit limits.

Now however, most credit card companies are more strict with their lending criteria. The current Coronavirus pandemic has also lead to even stricter lending criteria. As a result, high limit balance transfer credit cards are now more rare than they used to be.

High Limit Balance Transfer Credit Cards

A customer with a high balance outstanding on an existing credit card will require a new high limit balance transfer credit card in order to make a balance transfer of the full amount.

Consider for example, if you have a £7000 outstanding balance on an existing credit card. In this case, you will need to obtain an initial credit limit of at least £7370 on any new high balance transfer credit card to make a £7000 balance transfer.

A high credit limit balance transfer will also be affected by the maximum balance transfer amount that the credit card company will allow. This is a percentage of the customer’s overall credit limit

All current UK balance transfer credit cards only allow a balance transfer to be made for at most 95%, or in some cases 90%, of a customers credit limit.

Some UK credit cards are issued as a Visa card. Others cards, like the M&S cards for example, are issued as a MasterCard.
