Post Office Balance Transfer

Post Office Balance Transfer

The Post Office balance transfer credit card now comes with a shorter 0% deal on balance transfers.

The current Post Office balance transfer card offers UK customers 0% for up to 12 months on balance transfers, with a 2.9% balance transfer fee and the card has a representative 34.9% APR variable. The card also offers new customers 0% for up to 12 months on purchases.

If you apply for this card, then may receive an even shorter 0% introductory offers, based on your own individual circumstances. You may also get a different APR interest rate, again based on your individual circumstances.

Post Office Credit Card Balance Transfer

The new Post Office balance transfer credit card is issued by Capital One. The Post Office act as a credit broker for these cards, and are not the issuer. As a result, you cannot make a balance transfer from any Capital One credit card to the Post Office card.

Previously, the Post Office had offered customers a range of different credit cards. Bank of Ireland was the issuer of these previous balance transfer cards. Back in 2018, these cards had offered UK customers introductory deals as long as 0% for up to 35 months on balance transfers.

This new Post Office balance transfer card, however is unlikely to be first choice for UK customers looking for a 0% balance transfer offer. This is because of the very short 0% introductory offer, and also the much higher than average standard APR interest rate.

Many other longer balance transfer offers are available to UK card customers looking for a 0% balance transfer. All of the following featured cards will allow a Post Office credit card balance transfer:-

Jaja Balance Transfer

The Bank Of Ireland has made the decision to withdraw from the UK credit card market. As a result, customers with one of the older Post Office credit card were transferred over to a new credit card provider, Jaja.

This included all customers who held a Post Office Platinum card, as well the Post Office Matched credit card. The transfer to the new card provider took place back in October 2020.

As a result of this change of credit card issuer, all existing Post Office credit card customers received a new Jaja credit card. Customers were also required to register for, and use the Jaja online app to service their new card.

Any introductory 0% offers that customers had on their old Post Office credit cards were not affected. These Post Office credit card balance transfer introductory deals for customers continued until their scheduled expiry date.

Jaja is a relatively new card company within the UK credit card market. As a result, this has sometimes caused issues with making a Jaja balance transfer to some other UK credit cards. There are currently no Jaja balance transfer offers available on the Jaja credit card.

At the start of 2023, Jaja notifyed customers who had previously held the Post Office credit card that their replacement Jaja credit card would be closing. Customers will now need to find a new credit card to use for their day to day spending.

The Post Office credit card balance transfer offer on the Platinum card was the longest interest free balance transfer offer from the Post Office. The Post Office Matched credit card had offered customers equal length introductory offers on balance transfers and purchases. Neither of these cards are now available to new customers, in the UK.
